Frequently Asked Questions

What engraving services do you offer?
We offer an expansive product line of over 200 products with hundreds of original designs and artwork. You can select from all-natural stone, glass, wood, leather, metal, and more. We use either a laser or sandcarved engraving technique to achieve the highest-quality of handcrafted gifts. All of our design and engraving work is completed in-house by our passionate artisans to ensure you quality gifts with a fast turnaround. We never outsource our work.

Do you provide the products for engraving?
Yes. We keep inventory of all the items we engrave on unless otherwise noted as ‘specialty order’. We have over 200 granite boulders in our inventory at our Corning, Iowa location. You can view these online, but the best way to find what you’re looking for is to come in and pick one out in person. The boulders we carry all vary in size, shape, and color. All boulders are all-natural granite stone.

What about pick-ups?
All merchandise other than boulders can be picked up in our store anytime during regular business hours.

What if I need my gift made in a rush?
We do accept rush orders, but please call us to place your order. During peak seasons, rush orders may not be available.
Rush fees (based on retail price of merchandise/order)

  • $0-$49: $15
  • $50-$99: $30
  • $100-$149: $45
  • $150+: $60

What if I want to have a personalized engraving, like a photograph or handwriting?
For engravings like photos, handprints, and handwriting, we require a minimum 600 DPI full-color, high-resolution photo. Don’t compress the images. Please scan the photo on the highest resolution setting, because we won’t be able to improve the quality of a blurry photo. For this reason, sending us a photo from a cell phone usually will not give us a clear enough image to engrave.

What if I want to engrave my company logo?
For customer-provided business logos, we have no set-up fees and low minimums. You must supply a high-resolution AI or EPS file of the logo. If you prefer for our team to recreate or track down your logo, we require a fee of $25 per hour.

If we create your logo from scratch or provide artwork you would like to use outside the scope of the engraving project, a minimum $50 fee will be applied to obtain the artwork and account for intellectual property requirements.

*Please note that we never use fake rocks or materials. We’re dedicated to selecting all-natural stones and minerals found in quarries throughout the Midwest. All-natural imperfections are due to the mineral make-up of the natural stone.

Do you deliver and set the boulders?

We do offer delivery and setting service for our boulders, priced by mileage. We do not have a dedicated delivery service as we’re a small, family-operated company. Please allow up to two weeks (or longer during peak times and holidays) after your order is finished for delivery. Deliveries will need to be arranged with our driver after your boulder is complete.

Please be aware that Carver’s Ridge will be bringing in landscaping equipment when delivering & setting your boulder. Our delivery person will try very hard not to damage your property when unloading & setting your boulder, but grass and landscaping material may be disrupted by the use of our skidloader. Every stone is different, but most do not have a flat bottom surface and may require some type of material underneath or even some slight digging of up to one foot to position the boulder properly. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to have the material in place ahead of time that the boulder will be placed on and to contact One Call to verify it is safe to dig into the ground for proper placement.

Is engraving a boulder different than other products you offer?
Yes, the protocol for engraving a boulder is slightly different than the other projects we work on at Carver’s Ridge. If you want us to engrave a boulder you already possess that measures wider than 18 inches, we’ll need to preview the stone before confirming that our team can successfully complete the work. Once we’ve confirmed that we’re capable of doing the project, we’ll provide you with a cost and turnaround quote.

Can I pick up my own boulder?
If you prefer to pick up your own boulder after its completion, please schedule a time with our office. We’ll need to make sure we have a properly trained employee on site when you arrive to run the necessary equipment to load the boulder. If you plan to pick up during regular business hours, please call ahead by a few hours so we can be sure we’re prepared for your arrival.

Saturday pick-ups must have a scheduled appointment.

Do you paint as well as engrave?
Yes! Many of our stones and boulders are painted after engraving. Each painted stone receives two coats of paint and three coats of protective sealant. Designs that require layered painting or if you need your stone retouched due to fading or damage, we do offer hand painting services. The rate for hand painting is $25 per hour, and you’ll always receive an estimated cost and turnaround time for your project once you approve the design proof.

Can I bring in my own product to be engraved?
No, we don’t allow our customers to provide their own products. We’re confident that our trained staff members will be able to help you select one of our satisfactory all-natural products. The exception to this rule is if you would like to provide your own boulder for engraving. We will look at your personal boulders over 18 inches wide to see if we can engrave on the stone, though we can’t promise or guarantee our services until we’ve seen the boulder.
